I enjoyed the book so much that I passed it on to a friend who has grandchildren (3) living with her and they all thought it was a great book and fun to read. My friend said she quizzed her grandkids after they each had read the book and was surprised to find that they really did learn a lot about atoms from the book.
A very entertaining and intelligent book! The graphics are fantastic and the subject is present on a level my son could grasp without being too simplistic. This was a great introduction to a subject in science that he can build on going forward.
The book just told my kid that hydrogen has one neutron. Ugh.And the story doesn't even work on a poetic level; it presents atomic structure as a little creature (to make it relatable to children) but then devolves into telling the reader the creature has OTHER creatures inside it working together. Did the author not think to present the atom as a TEAM or other community, making the concept relatable without going surreal?Cute drawings do not justify poor (and incorrect) writing.
Thank you for this little booklet. My students enjoy looking at it together. There are too many words required in a review.
It is an amazing book that captures the attention of young readers. The concept of an atom is well described, easily understood and beautifully illustrated in the drawings. My son really enjoys reading the book, he is now ready to take off in chemistry.
