What an awesome ending! These books are dark in their nature but the story is great. The character development and story line are fascinating and Andy Peloquin gets your action draws you in and holds you there. It's a wild ride at times but wonderfully written. I'm or to big a fan of the darker fantasy but I have to give this series five stars and two thumbs up. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟ðŸ‘ðŸ‘
The book is constantly evolving with Hunter (the main character) faced with overwhelming situations that he somehow finds a way to solve. Good book, kept me reading into the late hours on many nights.
Great story line and main characters.
We have reached book 6 in the Hero of Darkness series, and as we join our favourite dark hero, he is just getting over being dead. I mean, that's just how he rolls. At the end of the last book, the Hunter was fighting a stone warrior who guards the entrance to the fabled Serenii city of Enarium. Being a Bucelarii; a special human/demon hybrid, created to be immortal and darn near indestructible to anything except iron (Iron is their only weakness) the Hunter is naturally very hard to kill. Unfortunately for the Hunter, he was stabbed in the side by a shard of an iron weapon and the iron poisoned and killed him.He clearly remembered dying, and yet here he is, getting up again. Even his own personal kryptonite doesn't stop this guy.Incredibly, his wife of many years, Taiana, saves him by using his demon infused dagger called Soulhunger, and stabbing and killing those soldiers who had come to try to kill him. It is a strange benefit of using Soulhunger; the dagger of a bucelarii, helps preserve the life of the Hunter, by draining the soul and life force of its victims, and passing that life force energy straight to the Hunter.This story is filled to the brim with action, fantastic magic, more surprises than you can shake a stick at and great characters. The one thing I would have loved was more information about the Serenii. They sound very cool and a bit more of their history would have been wonderful.I loved the way this story examined the Hunters past, mixed in with his present, and we see how both types of responsibility affect him.The more we read about this hybrid creature, the more we see how deep his humanity goes and I really love that about him. His past has been so elusive until now. It was brilliant being able to find out who he really is.I can't imagine living as long as the Hunter has. And the thought of believing yourself to be the last one of your kind is incredible; and then the mind blowing affect of finding out that you aren't really the last one, and that another one of your kind to have survived this long, is your WIFE. What a great plot twist!This story is impressive in concept and wonderful in execution. What marvelous writing. How this story has adapted and changed over this series. Graduating into this story which is incredibly moving and insightful.As I have said before about this series, the character of the Hunter will stay with me indefinitely. He has become a part of me to such an extent, that when I think of a hero, it won't be Ironman or Superman...no, it will be the Hunter every time. How often does a book make you feel like that.Roll on the next book!
In Darkblade Savior, the Hunter discovers his real name, Drayvin, his past, the truth about the thirteen gods of Einan and also ends his transformation from murderer to hero and savior of millions of people imprisoned in the Pit.As I mentioned earlier, the author takes up the thread of the story of the Hunter of Voramis at the exact point where he left it in the previous book, continuing with the plot and adding more action and answering the questions that the reader can, and surely it has been done when reading the previous books. This is a characteristic of this series and this author, that hardly meets other authors.I recommend reading this series in order, so that the reader fully understands the characters and their motives. It is a series full of action and adventure, where everything is not white or black, where the protagonist is transformed from anti-hero to savior.If it was possible, I would give this book ten stars, which are well deserved, for its quality and all the hours of entertainment it has given me.
Not a book you want to read if you are tired or only have a short time to read. Book six is deep and intense. So much that has driven the hunter to this point gets turned on its head. He is torn by loyalties and needs to make quick decisions. This is a fantastic climax of the series so far. Andy leaves things tied up enough to be satisfied, but with room to join the characters again later.
Amazing story, as well as ending. The Hunter has surprised himself with the change is his life - all for the best. The story gets more gripping the further you go and is very difficult to put down. Definitely worth the read.
A great series. I asked Santa if he could give me Andy for a year so that I could be the first to read his new books. Santa told me the best he could would be to have Jim Carrey drop be New Year’s Day to sing his drunken version of Your a mean one, Mr. Grinch. I declined since green poodle fur breaks me out in hives. I will just have to be like everyone else and wait until he releases them.
